For anyone who wants to participate, on December 22nd, 2011,  fans are going to try and get the phrase #joelmchale4snl trending on Twitter. The reason behind this is [1] that Joel McHale is funny, [2] maybe funnier than some of SNL’s past hosts and [3] Joel on SNL would give him and everything around him buzz (well, that’s the hope).

 Taking a page from the guy who started Betty White’s SNL petition,the plan would be using a trending topic to bring attention to the “Joel McHale for SNL” Facebook campaign. I’d estimate we need at least 100,000 (or maybe 50,000) likes to even get the media’s attention. From there I suppose it’s up to SNL but I think that this would be great opportunity for Joel ( and yes, also for Community).

TL;DR tag all of your tweets w/ #joelmchale4snl on Thursday, December 22nd starting at 8pm eastern time.
